Hi Dave

It is nice of you to say so, because there are those that can't afford it who hate it instead, just like I hate those awful Ferraris!

Karl -

A stunning plane, just as the prior boxwood examples in the A13 pictures on your site. To me, the nicest smoother design, yours is the best example in execution, design and materials. It would be mine were it not for the threats of divorce from my better half!

Best -

Hi Archie

Yes you will get a black line if you wanted to polish, but I recommend not to polish a brass sided plane especially with a light timber like boxwood. You will get a very dark green stain which then turns black. Of course you could experiment with masking techniques but I find it is easier to just burnish with a 0000 grade steel wool and then there is no staining.

To let brass sided planes oxidise naturally adds to their charm.

Very nice Karl.
Do you ever find that when working with boxwood and metal the sharp meeting edge between the boxwood and the metal can tend to show a black line ?
Best wishes,
Archie.
