Hi Wayne

Nice to hear from you and sorry for the delay in replying. Catch up day today.

Yes it is English boxwood. Finding boxwood in this quality and size is the proverbial rocking horse poo! I have a bit left but will have to kiss a lot of frogs to find my prince. Unfortunately I didn't pull the bark off and have ruined some, such a shame as it is all the yellow stuff.

Hi

Thanks for your compliments as always. I intend to work my way through all my planes. Perhaps the A6 next. As I do new designs I will photograph them more thoroughly so the blog should get better.

Hi Archie

I am trying to keep my normal oiling practise where ever I can, but after talking to a very very nice customer he sent me some polyurethene gel which I am rather impressed with. However, if I can get away with oiling I shall. The advantages of the gel is that it stops the rosewood going too dark as can be the case with oiling. It is a nice alternative.

A truly stunning new addition to the Holtey camp.
May I ask what type/method of finishing you have chosen for the timber bodies ?
